A Des Moines police officer who was hit by a truck near the Iowa State Fair is making strides in his recovery. Relatives and colleagues of Officer Phoukham (FOO'-kahm) Tran say he is walking again and is expected to return to Des Moines from a Chicago rehabilitation facility on Oct. 10.
