The Des Moines police officer struck by an SUV is in a hospital rehabilitation unit and continuing to improve, officials said. Officer Candice Lassiter, 33, was investigating a traffic accident March 24 when a passing driver lost control of his vehicle on an icy hill and slid into her, authorities said.
