A Sixth District Police Officer was handling a crash on the interstate at U.S. 90B east and S. Claiborne Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle, knocking him unconscious. The vehicle fled the scene. Officer Hilal Williams says the 47-year-old male officer was taken to a hospital.
Police spokesman Tyler Gamble says two drivers are being questioned about possible involvement and are undergoing alcohol testing. Williams says the officer was investigating a crash on Interstate 10 when he was hit. She says investigators have been reviewing video footage. The officer's name was not immediately released. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available
