Texas: Partners to the end: Heartbreaking moment a police officer comforts his dying patrol horse after it was spooked and hit by a truck

It's a heart-wrenching photo of a police officer losing his partner and friend. Charlotte was a six-year-old mounted patrol horse who had worked with the Houston Police Department for the last four years.

But on December 3 she was hit by cement truck and fatally injured. Her rider, Officer D. Herrejon, was bucked but refuse to leave her side as she lay dying on the sidewalk, WTSP reported.
