Massachusetts: Police cruiser struck by another car in Uxbridge

Massachusetts Law Enforcement

An Uxbridge Police cruiser was struck from behind by another car Saturday afternoon on Route 146 after police said the officer pulled over to help a State Police trooper on a motor vehicle stop. The officer headed to Rte. 146 around 11:35 a.m. to help the trooper, Uxbridge Police said. The officer pulled over and was sitting inside his cruiser when police said another vehicle crashed into the back of the cruiser.

Police said the officer and the driver of the other car were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The officer was later released. Both cruisers had their emergency lights on and flashing at the time of the accident, police said.

Uxbridge Police reminded people to adhere to the "Move Over" law while driving. The accident remains under investigation by the State Police.
