    Another Abilene fire engine has been damaged in a wreck. Engine 4 was hit by an 18-wheeler traveling west on Interstate 20 on Monday as firefighters were stopped while responding to a single-vehicle accident at mile marker 286. An Abilene Fire Department spokesman said the fire truck was intentionally parked to block traffic and protect the first responders who were treating victims of the first accident.

Police say John Creeley, 63, was driving on South Hamilton Street in the Town of Erwin when he had to stop for troopers directing traffic around an accident. Officials say when Creeley felt he had waited long enough, he disregarded the trooper directing traffic and drove through the intersection, swiping the side of the trooper.
