Trooper Canali was in one of three state police cruisers protecting a road construction crew when his cruiser was rear-ended by a 2003 Acura 32TL sedan driven by André Draughn, state police said.

    A Massachusetts state trooper was hospitalized after his cruiser was struck from behind by another vehicle while he worked a road construction detail. A department spokesman says the trooper was in his cruiser on Interstate 290 west in Auburn at about 8:40 p.m. Monday when he was struck. The trooper’s injuries are not considered serious. The driver who struck the cruiser also suffered minor injuries.
